Week 35 Appointment

So we had our first of 5 weekly appointments today which included our first NST. The test went well and I had a contraction during the first 20 minutes of the test (the test lasted about 25-30 minutes). The baby is still head down which is really good and I lost another couple of pounds since our last appointment on Wednesday. Total I've gained 10.5 pounds since my pre-pregnancy weight. My belly measures 35cm so I'm right in line with my weeks and the doctor said that starting tomorrow, if I go in to labor anytime between now and my due date they will not stop the labor. I just hope she can hold out until after I'm done work on the 18th since this will be my last day of work before maternity leave. Blood pressure was also good as usual and there wasn't much else to really say except keep doing what I'm doing and the baby will come when she's ready to come!

Next appointment is next Tuesday and I will have another NST done to track everything yet again. Will update you again after that appointment.

Less than 6 weeks to go!!!

We had our follow up appointment today and everything went well. Total I have gained 13 pounds during the pregnancy and Ella measures in the 43rd percentile. I start my every week appointments on Monday where they will do the NST (Fetal Non-Stress Test - http://www.americanpregnancy.org/prenataltesting/non-stresstest.html) before each appointment. Although the dietitian didn't think it was necessary this early on, the doctor said that they would like to test it because I'm still considered "high risk" because of the Gestational Diabetes. Then in 2 weeks I will get the the GBS (Group B Strep - http://www.womenshealthcaretopics.com/strep_b.htm) test to make sure that I don't have this bacteria.

So we're getting down to the wire...The baby's room is still incomplete - waiting for an electrician to come out (tomorrow) to give us an estimate on adding an outlet, moving an outlet down and adding a light switch and putting in the wires for a ceiling fan. I'm not too concerned about the room being fully complete before she is born, but it would be nice to at least start working on it...Other than that, I have 23 days (total - including weekends and holidays) left of work (only 16 work days left)!!

We're both really excited and getting ready for the day Baby Ella is born! :)

I will keep everyone posted on my upcoming doctor's visits...

Below are some pictures taken on Mike's birthday - I was 33 weeks and 6 days pregnant. Enjoy!

Almost there...

I had my 2 week appointment today (only 1 more to go before the weekly appointments start up) and things went well except for the fact that I haven't felt well since last night. In the last 2 weeks I lost about 9 pounds because of the Gestational Diabetes. This is good as per the doctor, it means that I've only gained about 13 pounds total in the pregnancy thus far. When she asked how I was feeling, I told her that I was dizzy/weak last night and this morning felt nauseous. She said this could be because of a mixture of both the diet (not eating all the carbs/sugar anymore) and the heat. Her suggestion was to get plenty of rest and drink fluids. So I stayed home from work today and slept for about 2 hours before lunch. Feeling slightly better, but still a little out of it. So I'll just have to take it easy during this heat especially.

Other than that, today is our 3 year wedding anniversary, so we're going to go out and grab some grub at the Farnsworth House to celebrate.

That is all for now and will follow up again after my next appointment on the 26th.

32 Week - Gestational Diabetes Appointment

So, I started on my Gestational Diabetes diet last week while on vacation and must say that I'm doing really well (thanks to the support of my wonderful husband). We met with the Diabetes doctor today and he didn't seem too concerned with my numbers since they were so close to the cutoff, but said that the numbers I've been coming up with with the blood sugar monitor I received this weekend are normal. Basically this means that I don't have to go back to see them again until September 22 unless my numbers go off the charts and then I'd have to check back in sooner.

They took an ultrasound just to make sure Ella (they confirmed yet again that the baby is a girl) is measuring normal, which she is. They calculated her weight to be just around 4lbs 10oz (give or take a pound - hopefully take, not give; don't want her to be too big) and they're figuring that she'll weigh around 8 pounds at the time of delivery. Because she's getting bigger, the pictures are not the best; plus she had her hand up to her head the whole time (she seems to like that position). But she is head down (in a diagnol across my stomach), so that's good.

Other than that, I have my 2 week follow up tomorrow morning, which they'll probably tell me the same thing that I heard today.

Will keep everyone posted! :)
